Self Pay & Sliding Scale Options
I have worked with a lot of clients over the years where they prefer to pay out of pocket for a variety of reasons. If you'd prefer to pay up front for each session, we set up a plan that you pay prior to session beginning and I can send you a receipt for your records.
If you would prefer to pay out of pocket and want to see if you qualify for sliding scale fee, let me know. We will discuss your income range and expenses to see if you qualify. Then arrange an agreement for a sliding scale payment option.

How Billing Works
Each month I will put together a billing statement for you and send it through email or mail, whichever you prefer.
When you receive the statement, I ask that payment be sent within 7-10 business days upon receipt.
If you need to set up a payment plan, we can do that together. I work with clients to keep their accounts up to date, yet affordable with your budget or pay periods.

If you prefer using an HSA account, you can easily use PayPal with your credit card or issue a check directly to me from your HSA account.

Your First Session
We will schedule your first session, which is called an Intake Session. You will arrive to your session and its helpful to think about what you want to share. The paperwork I sent prior to our first session has a lot of helpful questions that can guide you in preparing for what to share and talk about when we meet.
We will discuss what's happening right now that prompted you to reach out for therapy, events in your life that have helped you become who you are today, and people who are important to you. We will also discuss your treatment goals and hoped for outcomes as we work together, to help provide a framework for our time together.
Most importantly, show up being you. I want to get to know who you are and also help you sort out how to feel better, and the best way to do that is for you to be you: honest, authentic, and real.

How Long does Therapy Last?
Most people find that they benefit from therapy on a weekly basis for at least 6-12 months. Some people work with me for years, especially in times of big change and transitions. Having a safe person and space to share who you are, is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves.
Investing in therapy can be a little daunting to someone who's just starting therapy or is ambivalent about really doing therapy. However, research shows that best practices involves meeting weekly with a therapist, so you can develop a strong therapeutic rapport and have consistency and accountability each week to continue to prioritize your changes you're making. When you do this, you'll see a lot of progress and improvement in your life. You are worth investing in!

What Do I Talk About?
This will be different for each person, but know that you won't be alone as you sort out what to focus on and how to process what's happening in your life.
Some clients find it helpful to jot down events, emotions, or topics they want to focus on, in between sessions and then bring that list or journal to therapy. We have an hour a week together, and the work and effort you put into your self growth, reflection, and processing in-between sessions is incredibly valuable. Then when we meet, we can build on your insights, your goals, and continue to help you figure out next steps.
If you don't have time to work extra outside of therapy, then spend at least 15 minutes before session to jot down some ideas you want to process together. I understand life is busy sometimes, so therapy is the space you process. So, to get the most out of our time together, be prepared! I'll help you figure out how to do this, if you struggle doing it already. Just know that therapy is a safe space to show up where you're at, while also working towards where you want to go.
